What inspired you to first become a florist?
Fallow and Fox first started as a homeware store, but I quickly realised that there was a gap in the market in Mornington, Dunedin for a fresh, affordable and local florist. I had previous floristry experience working in Auckland, and thought why not! 7 years on, my business has grown into a full service florist.
What do you love about using NZ grown flowers and foliage?
We're so lucky that in NZ, we have the most gorgeous flowers produced by local growers. They have put their heart and soul into growing, producing and supplying NZ florists with flowers all year-round. I know when I get NZ flowers and foliage, that they are top quality and fresh from the field.
What does the ‘Power of Flowers’ mean to you?
My emotion is gratitude and thankfulness and by using the language of flowers, these emotions are represented by flowers such as roses, sweet peas, poppies and the colour pink. I decided to utilize these and other fabulous NZ grown flowers to showcase a lush and bountiful installation, which best represents the feeling of gratitude and thankfulness. Everything is soft, lush and trailing. Flowers take dedication, hardwork and care, and its something we should be thankful that we are able to access, use and gift something that only lasts a short period of time.
How does ‘The Power of Flowers’, play a role in your life?
I am passionate about making the purchase of flowers accessible to all, whether it be a $10 posy or a $100 Bouquet, there is a need to meet all of our communities needs. We all have significant events in our lives and what best represents our feelings responses and thoughts, we can use flowers to display this.
